My name is Brian and the founder of Primal Breathwork. I am a breath specialist from Australia currently based in Hong Kong (China) and Asia Pacific. I first learned about the power of the breath during a โ€œdark night of the soulโ€ almost a decade ago along with an ongoing journey to find answers to health issues I had been living with for a while.

The journey eventually led me to Wim Hof in 2015, nicknamed the โ€œIcemanโ€, he is best known for superhuman accomplishments and 26 world records in extreme conditions. I was fortunate to be trained directly by Wim, becoming the very first certified instructor of the Wim Hof Method in Asia Pacific.

Over the years I have continued to evolve my understanding and practice in the breath, contrast therapy (hot/cold) for improving human performance with todayโ€™s experts and living masters including Patrick McKeown (Oxygen Advantage), XPT (Extreme Performance Trainingโ„ข), Stig Severinsen (4x world champion free diver), Kasper Van Der Muelen (Biohack Breathwork), Steve Maxwell (Joe Roganโ€™s S&C coach and BJJ black belt), Dan Brulรฉ (breathwork pioneer and Tony Robbinsโ€™ coach), Qigong experts. Brian has also ongoing training in advanced meditation & mysticism with Baba Ji in India.

The skill of breathwork has been my own greatest tool in overcoming anxiety, mental health challenges, depression and building resiliency. The breath has also improved my own athletic performance & recovery in Brazilian Jiujitsu and helping me sustain balance amidst the fast-paced nature of Hong Kong.

I am humbled to have had the opportunity to share what I have learnt about breathwork and human performance with thousands in Asia and beyond from all walks of life over the last several years.

In 2023 my mission is to continue to help spread the importance and benefits of conscious breathing to Hong Kong and Asia Pacific with a focus on the education system, mental health support and high performing athletes & individuals.

brianโ€™s breathwork JOURNEY

Coming from a background in finance, film and business, breathwork was an unknown world prior to 2014. I had heard of breathing exercises decades ago for sleep and relaxation but I had brushed it off as a gimmick with no idea the power that lied in the breath until my own healing journey a decade later. Everything I have learnt in breathwork and where I am today would not be possible without the help of some pretty amazing teachers and mentors mentioned in the next section.

A few additional nods to teachers that have and still do greatly influence my work and journey in wellness but have yet to meet in person include Dr. Robert Morse, Paul Chek, Gabor Matรฉ, Andrew Huberman, The Holistic Psychologist (Nicole LePera) and Dr. Joe Dispenza.

WIM HOF: the wim hof method

Wim Hof is the founder of the Wim Hof Method (WHM) and is known as the โ€œIcemanโ€ for his superhuman feats, he holds 26 Guinness World Records (all held in extreme conditions).

Over time humans have developed a different attitude towards nature and they've forgotten about their inner power. This is the ability of our body to adapt to extreme temperature and survive within our natural environment. The WHM is based on this principle. Because of modern technology we've greatly reduced the natural stimulation of our bodies, atrophying the age-old mechanisms related to our survival and basic function. Because these deeper physiological layers are no longer triggered, our bodies are no longer in touch with this inner power. The inner power is a powerful force that can be reawakened by stimulating these physiological processes through the method.

Brian was one of the first certified instructors of Australia and the very first instructor in Asia.
